The strategic importance<\/b> of the internal cohesion of the party for the success of the government’s work was underlined by Lina Mendoni<\/b> from the podium of the 16th Congress of New Democracy<\/b>. The Minister of Culture<\/b>, giving the outline of the government’s organisational structure, said: The Parliamentary Group and the party. Without the support of both, the government cannot do its work<\/b>. So I am very happy that today we have the opportunity, in the context of the unity on infrastructure, to say a few words about what is happening in culture.”<\/p>\n
“When Kyriakos Mitsotakis took over the government of the country in 2019, the culture sector was in a real state of neglect<\/strong>. Almost nothing was being done. It was as if it didn’t exist. Where<\/strong> is culture in Greece, in a country that may be proud of its cultural heritage, but can be proud of its contemporary cultural creation. All this did not exist. So what did we do? What we did was to plan, not just to envision. Vision is all very well but if you don’t have a plan you never get to the goal. So we designed a coherent policy that allows us to practically revitalise Greece in its most sensitive and dynamic sector, culture<\/strong>. So, we created the cultural charter for growth and prosperity,” he said.<\/p>\n “We listed all the projects, all the reforms, all the objectives that should concern each region<\/strong> and each regional unit, and we talked to people and completed this landscape. So, by targeting and using every resource, we have reached today from 2019 to date we have implemented or are implementing more than 900 infrastructure projects across Greece<\/b>, with a budget of more than 1.3 billion<\/strong>,” she added. Mendoni wondering when else Greece, in the given period of time, had the ability to execute and deliver to citizens so many projects.<\/p>\n Also, she spoke about the economy <\/strong>of civilization <\/strong>pointing out: “The economy of culture is now a separate sector in the economy. And what does it tell us about culture? That 1 euro of public investment yields 53.344 euros. If we go to the audiovisual sector, what does it tell us about investment? That 1 euro of investment yields EUR 4.11 in the real economy. So one realises that the potential of culture is enormous. It is much bigger than other sectors that we are used to being told are driving the economy.<\/p>\n “So that is why Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b>, with a clear plan and vision,gave specific directions for this sector, culture as economic development and as a lever of social cohesion,”<\/strong> he noted.<\/p>\n He also stressed that from 2019 to date, 29 museums have been returned. “Kyriakos Mitsotakis is attributing the 30th one on May 21 in Mistra, after infinite years when Mistra was under a continuous restoration<\/b>. And by the end of the year we will award 8 more,”<\/p>\n the Culture Minister noted.<\/p>\n “Let me tell you that in previous years, the average for the construction of a museum was 6 to 7 years. This says a lot,” she added.<\/p>\n According to her, it is culture that can regenerate the region and have a beneficial effect on demographics.<\/p>\n Finally, referring to Artificial Intelligence<\/b> and in conjunction with copyright, Mendoni<\/b> pointed out: “The Artificial Intelligence<\/b>, which we heard about earlier, has already changed the landscape<\/b>. Anything, anyone, through AI can produce cultural products, music, movies, etc. There what is the role of the artist? I was at the European Council the other day and Greece was the country that primarily put forward the revision of the relevant Copyright Directive, so that through AI the artist remains sovereign. Artificial Intelligence was created by humans.
