A series of meetings<\/b> was held by Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b> yesterday (16\/05) on the sidelines of the Europe Gulf Forum, hosted by Costa Navarino. <\/p>\n

Specifically, the Greek prime minister<\/b> met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva<\/b>, Finland President Alexander Stump<\/b> and British Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy<\/b>.<\/p>\n

During the meeting<\/b><\/b> <\/b>that Kyriakos Mitsotakis had with the head of the IMF<\/b>, the impact of the Gulf crisis on the global economy<\/b> and on energy supply<\/b> was discussed, with an emphasis on the potential of the European Union<\/b> to mitigate the consequences for its citizens and businesses. Mrs. Georgieva congratulated the Prime Minister on the rapid and dynamic recovery of the Greek economy<\/b> and the reform work<\/b> that has been implemented in recent years.<\/p>\n

At the meeting with the President of Finland<\/b> there was an exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East<\/b>. Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b> noted that Greece has now developed relations of mutual trust and sincere cooperation with all the countries of the region<\/b> and acts as a bridge between the EU and the Gulf<\/b>. They also discussed the latest developments in Ukraine<\/b>.<\/p>\n

As part of the meeting with the Vice President of the British Government<\/b>, the importance of maintaining free navigation<\/b> for the global economy<\/b> and the need to avoid precedents that would restrict free passage in the Straits of Hormuz<\/b> were stressed. <\/p>\n

The Prime Minister pointed out that Greece, as a leading power in the maritime sector<\/b>, participates in the EU’s ASPIDES<\/b> mission and is part of the multinational initiative<\/b>, led by Britain and France, for the post-war security of the Straits<\/b>.<\/p>\n
