The 2nd Kifissia High School – Lyreio Didactirio<\/strong> was visited by the Bookmarkers<\/strong> on Friday, May 15, in an action that marked the organization’s first school initiative to support public reading<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The newly formed Association<\/strong> is an initiative of Gregory Dimitriadis and aims to promote books as a foundation for intellectual development. Through its actions, it seeks to highlight the power of words as a basis for the cultivation of criticism<\/strong>, creativity<\/strong> and imagination<\/strong>, in an age dominated by digital information.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the President of the Scientific Committee<\/strong>, Mr. Nikos Koukis<\/strong>, together with the Director of the Lyrion Didactory<\/strong>, Mrs. Gina Stasinopoulou<\/strong>, talked with the students of the school, in the presence of teachers from the Teachers’ Association<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Bookmarkers<\/strong> donated literary books<\/strong>, as well as a library<\/strong>, just before the end of the school year. This is a highly active and creative school, where students<\/b> have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities in Greece and abroad, enriching their knowledge, social formation and behaviour.<\/p>\n

In this environment of creative expression and contact with books, students had prepared drawings inspired by literary works they had read, as part of the “Read and draw”<\/strong> action.<\/p>\n

The history of the school itself, which today hosts 188 students<\/strong>, is of particular importance. The Lyrean Didactry<\/strong> is a legacy of Angela Lyra<\/strong>, wife of George Nikolaos Lyra<\/strong> from Oinousses. The Lyra family, with an intense naval activity, showed a strong sense of social contribution. Although the couple did not have any children, they proceeded with the construction of the school and its donation to the Municipality of Kifissia, in order to support the student community.<\/p>\n
