After completing his contacts<\/b> in Berlin<\/b>, Kostis Hatzidakis<\/b> welcomed the international recognition of the Greek economy<\/b>, sealing new bilateral agreements.<\/p>\n
The vice-president of Government, Kostis Hatzidakis<\/b>, concluded his visit to Berlin<\/b>, where the cooperation of the Greek and German governments<\/b> in the fields of research and technology<\/b>, as well as in agriculture<\/b> was agreed upon, with Greece making use of good practices from Germany.<\/p>\n
Kostis Hatzidakis<\/b> said: “<\/i>Greece has gone from being a “black sheep” to an example of success<\/b>! The progress of the Greek economy is now recognized everywhere<\/b>. Governments and investors see in Greece a country of stability, credibility and prospects, which has left behind the era of crisis and uncertainty.<\/i><\/p>\n
In the meetings<\/b> I had in Berlin, the strong interest in the progress of the Greek economy, the reforms being implemented and the significant investment opportunities that have been created<\/b> was confirmed<\/b>. The government will consistently pursue the same policy of combining fiscal seriousness with reforms and growth, so that Greece will climb even higher and citizens will increasingly see the benefits of this progress in their daily lives.”<\/i><\/p>\n
Specifically, the Deputy Prime Minister met with Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt<\/strong>, in which the two countries’ common understanding on migration issues was confirmed, as well as their bilateral cooperation on the same issues. The Greek Vice President noted at this meeting that Greece will implement the new EU Migration Pact on June 12. <\/p>\n The Deputy Prime Minister also met with the Minister of Research and Technology, Dorothee B\u00e4r.<\/strong> Kostis Hatzidakis proposed and agreed that there should be cooperation between the two governments, which will contribute to the adoption by the Greek side of practices applied in Germany that can upgrade research and promote its connection with business. <\/p>\n Also, Kostis Hatzidakis had a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Alois Rainer,<\/strong> during which it was agreed to establish a mixed working group in order to promote ideas that will enhance the competitiveness and exports of the Greek agricultural sector.<\/p>\n Due to a last-minute impediment due to the illness of the Minister of Economy and Energy, Katherina Reiche,the Deputy Prime Minister met with the Deputy Minister of Economy, Dr. Thomas Steffen.<\/strong>The meeting discussed the significant progress made by the Greek economy in recent years, the prospects for further boosting German investment in Greece, as well as the increase in Greek exports to Germany. For his part, the German Deputy Minister pointed out that Germany can learn from Greece’s economic recovery course and the reforms implemented in recent years.<\/p>\n In addition,Kosti Hatzidakis met with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Parliament and former candidate for Federal Chancellor, Armin Laschet<\/b>. During the meeting they discussed international and European developments, the challenges for security and stability in the wider region, as well as the prospects for further strengthening Greek-German relations.<\/p>\n The Deputy Prime Minister also visited the German Parliament. In the margins of his visit to the Bundestag, Kostis Hadjidakis had a brief conversation with the Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz<\/b>, with the Head of the German Chancellery, Thorsten Frei, as well as with the Secretary of the CDU\/CSU Parliamentary Group, Jens Spahn.
