The Hellenic Police<\/b> has announced the safety<\/a><\/b> measures<\/a> that will be in place in Athens<\/b> for the days of the Final Four<\/b> of the Euroleague<\/b>, with the aim of protecting fans, delegations and the smooth running of the city. <\/p>\n
Specifically, it was decided to ban public open-air gatherings and motorized marches in the center of Athens from 06:00 on May 21 to 06:00 on May 25.<\/p>\n
The measure concerns the area enclosed by Rizari, Plutarchou, Ypsilantou, Moni Petraki, Ravine, Vladimir Bensis, Papadiamantopoulou, Alkmanos, Ionos Dragoumi, Vasileos Alexandrou Avenue and Antinoros Streets.<\/p>\n
As stated, possible gatherings or motorized marches in the demarcated area could cause a serious risk to public safety, as well as disruption to the socio-economic life of the city.<\/p>\n
The police stress that the measure has a limited duration, concerns a specific area and is deemed necessary for the protection of public safety and the smooth conduct of the event.<\/p>\n
In detail<\/strong>:<\/p>\n “The Director of the Athens Police Directorate, having regard to:<\/p>\n The provisions:<\/p>\n a) of par. 2 of article 11 and paragraph. 1 of Article 25 of the Constitution, c) of article 7 of Law 4249\/2014 “Reorganization of the Greek Police, the Fire Brigade and the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, upgrading of the services of the Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection and regulation of other issues under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection and other provisions”,<\/p>\n c) of article 7 of Law 4249\/2014. 4703\/2020 “Public open-air assemblies and other provisions”,<\/p>\n d) Article 8 of the Decree 73\/2020 “Regulation of public open-air assemblies”.<\/p>\n The letter of the Minister of Public Works and Public Works of the Republic of Cyprus, No. 3017\/1\/44-a\u0384 from 20\/05\/2026 to the President of the Athens Court of First Instance and the Mayor of Athens.<\/p>\n The order of the G.A.D.A.\/T.E. No. 2000\/26\/1111208 from 17\/05\/2026.<\/p>\n We decide:<\/p>\n The prohibition of possible public open-air gatherings and motorized marches in the center of Athens, from 06:00 of 21\/05\/2026 to 06:00 of 25\/05\/2026 and specifically in the area enclosed by the streets:<\/p>\n Rizari – Plutarchou – Ypsilantou – Moni Petraki – Rabine – Vladimir Bensis – Papadiamantopoulou – Alkmanos – Ionos Dragoumi – Vasileos Alexandrou Avenue – Antinoros – Rizari.<\/p>\n The above prohibition is imposed in accordance with the existing provisions on public outdoor gatherings and is based on a specific, specific and sufficiently documented risk assessment, in accordance with the principles of necessity and proportionality, taking into account the areas of interest of the sports event in question, as well as the duration of the duration of the event.<\/p>\n In particular, during the period of the “EUROLEAGUE FINAL FOUR ATHENS 2026”, an increased presence of fans, team delegations, officials and other persons involved is expected in the centre of Athens and in particular in the defined area of the present event. The holding of public open-air gatherings or motorised marches in this area may pose a serious risk to public safety, due to the possibility of large numbers of people gathering, sudden movements and the occurrence of confrontations or incidents.<\/p>\n At the same time, any gatherings or motorised marches may cause serious disruption to socio-economic life, in particular by obstructing traffic, impeding access to public services, businesses, residences and places of accommodation, as well as impairing the normal functioning of the city.<\/p>\n The measure is considered appropriate and necessary because milder measures are not sufficient to effectively prevent the above risks.
