{"id":6766,"date":"2026-05-21T17:36:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-21T14:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=6766"},"modified":"2026-05-21T17:36:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T14:36:00","slug":"patras-the-life-of-memas-stathopoulou-in-a-book","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=6766","title":{"rendered":"Patras: the life of Memas Stathopoulou in a book"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dedicated to the late Patrician protagonist of the legendary Greek cinema and theatre, <b>Mema Stathopoulou<\/b>, is the new book by journalist <b>Panagiotis Rigopoulos,<\/b> which will soon be released in bookstores across the country by <b>24 Grammas Publications.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The biography aspires to become a valuable tool for scholars, students of theatre and cinema, but also for every art-loving reader who wishes to get to know in depth the great personalities of Greek art and to understand the social and cultural changes of an entire era, through the life and career of a great protagonist.<\/p>\n<p>The book is enriched with <b>rich and rare archival material<\/b>: dozens of unpublished photographs, programmes of theatrical performances, film models, press publications, and personal moments from the family archive. A point of reference is the unique television interview she gave to the author in 1993 for his broadcast on the Achaia Channel television station in Patras, through which she reveals her thoughts, experiences and artistic paths.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, testimonies of colleagues, directors and people who knew her intimately, reconstruct the image of an often &#8220;misunderstood&#8221; but deeply charismatic actress, illuminating not only her stage presence but also her human side &#8211; her kindness, modesty and integrity.<\/p>\n<p>The publication highlights, among other things, her biographical journey, the evolution of Greek society through theatre and cinema, as well as leading personalities and works that have shaped the country&#8217;s artistic scene. At the same time, through the rich visual material, the aesthetics and the historical memory of the old Greek cinema are revived.<\/p>\n<p>The writing, interviews and research are signed by <b>Panagiotis Rigopoulos,<\/b> while the historical documentation is provided by the author, folklorist and researcher <b>Kostas Papaspilios<\/b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The presentation of the book will take place on Wednesday 27 May, at 19:30<\/b>, at the Epikentro+ theatre (36 Agios Andreou &amp; Norman), with free admission for the public.
