Besides, those who know <strong data-start=\"1371\" data-end=\"1394\">Constantine Tasoulas<\/strong> know that he maintains a timeless interest in history, literature and Greek cultural heritage. <\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"a3780f\" data-start=\"1511\" data-end=\"1551\"> <b>Who was<\/b> <strong data-start=\"1527\" data-end=\"1551\">Konstantinos Cavafy<\/strong> <\/h2>\n<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"164\" data-end=\"537\"> <strong data-start=\"166\" data-end=\"190\">Konstantinos Cavafy<\/strong> was born in 1863 in <strong data-start=\"214\" data-end=\"242\">Alexandria, Egypt<\/strong> and is still considered one of the most important figures of modern Greek poetry. He was known as &#8220;the Alexandrian&#8221;, as he lived most of his life in the multicultural city of Egypt, which deeply influenced his work and thought. <span data-state=\"closed\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"539\" data-end=\"1001\"> His poetry stood out for its distinctive style, its historical character and its strong symbolism. Through his poems he spoke about human decay, love, politics, loneliness and the power of the personal journey. Many of his works, such as <strong data-start=\"809\" data-end=\"820\">&#8220;Ithaca&#8221;<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"825\" data-end=\"841\">&#8220;Thermopylae&#8221;<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"849\" data-end=\"882\">&#8220;Waiting for the Barbarians&#8221;<\/strong>, were translated into dozens of languages and are still read around the world today. <span data-state=\"closed\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed_media\" data-emebed-provider=\"YouTube\">\n<div class=\"dp-youtube-video dp-embed-video\" data-embed=\"BPZ4HVkcoYU\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BPZ4HVkcoYU?feature=oembed\">\n<div class=\"play-button\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p> <span data-state=\"closed\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1003\" data-end=\"1173\">Another thing that makes his life special is that he died on April 29, 1933, the exact same day as his birthday. <span data-state=\"closed\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1175\" data-end=\"1523\"> Although now considered a leading poet, he was particularly strict with his work and never went on to publish a major formal collection of poetry during his lifetime.
