The Deputy Minister of Health, Irini Agapidaki, visited the Centre for Friendship for the Elderly in Haidari and reported on the progress of the prevention and home care programmes implemented through the Ministry of Health and the EODY. <\/p>\n

As he said, “The health services must reach every home unhindered and free of charge, without exclusion, especially to the elderly and people with disabilities.” <\/p>\n

According to the data he presented, from the program’s inception through April 2026, the Health Consumer Groups<\/strong> of the EHRC have screened more than 41.000 people<\/strong> across the country, while approximately 10,000 people<\/strong> have received home health care services. <\/p>\n

More than 6 million people<\/strong> have received free screenings through the “PRELAMBANO”<\/strong> program, while more than 200.000 citizens<\/strong> were diagnosed early through the national prevention programme. <\/p>\n

Free health services and home care<\/h2>\n

Agapidaki stressed that the aim is to make access to health services barrier-free, especially for people who find it difficult to move. <\/p>\n

“Citizens should know that they have a free health service available to them, throughout the country, where the doctor comes to their door,” she said. <\/p>\n

He noted that the Mobile Health Teams<\/strong> are now “a key pillar of the national strategy for prevention and Primary Health Care”. <\/p>\n

The new health structures moving forward in Western Athens<\/h2>\n

The deputy minister also informed about the progress of the implementation of new Primary Health Care<\/strong> structures in Western Athens<\/strong>, which are on a development path. <\/p>\n

The plan includes: <\/p>\n

  • Complementary Regional Medical Center<\/strong> in Petropolis<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Complementary Regional Medical Centre<\/strong> in Ano Liosia<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • The creation of a University Health Centre through the establishment and conversion of the 2nd Health Centre of Peristeri<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • The annex of the General Children’s Hospital “Aghia Sophia”<\/strong> in Ilion<\/strong><\/li>\n
