The price of European gas fell by about 20% at the open, after the price of oil also retreated after Donald Trump<\/b> got his ultimatum against Iran and Tehran said it was ready to negotiate.<\/p>\n
Shortly after trading began at 09:00 GMT, the Dutch TTF futures contract, considered the European benchmark, was down 19.24 percent at 43 euros after retreating just over 20 percent to 42.5 euros.<\/p>\n
At the same time oil prices fell more than 15% today, much to the relief of stock markets in Asia, which jumped.<\/p>\n
Oil is down and the price is hovering below $100.<\/p>\n
Around 08:00 (GMT), the price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI)<\/b>deliverable in May, which is the U.S. benchmark for crude oil, was down 14.53% at $96.54.<\/p>\n
North Sea Brent barrel Brent<\/b> for delivery in June, which is the global market benchmark, was for its part down 13.13% at $94.92.<\/p>\n
Both fell below the symbolic $100 mark in a market relieved by the prospect of a ceasefire in Iran.<\/p>\n
