What is it that “the people do not forget”, as the … Papandreian motto also used to say? Is it the “proud negotiation” of the first half of 2015, which brought Greece to the edge of the cliff? How about the differentiated referendum that also just missed to complete the crime of leaving the hard core of Europe? The third – and tougher – memorandum that followed? The economic policy of his government and the general perception among his ministers, which was clearly hostile to the middle class?

But there is more: the SYRIZANEL government, with Mr Tsipras’ personal responsibility, trampled the rule of law and two were certainly the glaring cases that showed the nature of this government. The first was the Novartis scandal that was “christened” by Dimitris Papaggelopoulos – also known as “Rasputin”- as “the biggest scandal since the establishment of the Greek state” and the second was the fiasco of Nikos Pappas with the TV licenses, which even led to the former minister being convicted by a 13-0 vote by the Special Court for misconduct.

As in the Novartis case, of course, the Justice itself ruled even some years later that it was a frame-up, just as Pavlos Polakis had been claiming from the very first moment by the political figures who were deliberately implicated by the Tsipras government in the case, with Pavlos Polakis declaring unabashedly that they had to go to elections “with some in jail”.

So what should we remember and what should we forget about Mr Tsipras and his administration? And what “appointment with history” does he now have the audacity to talk about, seeking apotheosis for announcing his return to the political scene? In fact, after all, the former prime minister never actually left the scene and was merely weighing up the timing at which he would announce the formation of a new party.

And he left SYRIZA after the 2023 elections – and while he initially did not want to leave, but succumbed to pressure – in the hands of Stefanos Kasselakis apparently because he understood and foresaw exactly what would happen. That SYRIZA would fall apart and some of his comrades in Koumoundourou would ask him to return as a messiah.

Only, unfortunately for Mr Tsipras, history writes and does not erase…

Alexis Tsipras has the audacity to ask for the apotheosis for the announcement of his return to the political scene, but the memories of the tragic …

[3

post-7228","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics
["GET
