{"id":9522,"date":"2026-06-08T13:39:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T10:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=9522"},"modified":"2026-06-08T13:39:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T10:39:00","slug":"25-2-decrease-in-the-trade-deficit-in-april-according-to-elstat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.tomanifesto.gr\/?p=9522","title":{"rendered":"25.2% decrease in the trade deficit in April, according to ELSTAT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"60\" data-end=\"180\">A 25.2% drop in the deficit, a 35.7% rise in exports and a 9.6% increase in imports were recorded in Greece in April, according to ELSTAT.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"182\" data-end=\"402\">The <strong data-start=\"219\" data-end=\"255\">trade balance<\/strong> deficit narrowed significantly in April, according to <strong data-start=\"305\" data-end=\"315\">ELSTAT<\/strong> data, as the increase in <strong data-start=\"336\" data-end=\"348\">exports<\/strong> was almost four times that of <strong data-start=\"388\" data-end=\"401\">imports<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"nlwhxp\" data-start=\"404\" data-end=\"458\">Exports and imports boosted the overall picture<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"460\" data-end=\"800\">The total value of <strong data-start=\"480\" data-end=\"493\">imports<\/strong> in April was <strong data-start=\"517\" data-end=\"539\">7.353.2 million<\/strong>, compared to 6,712.1 million in the corresponding month of 2025, recording <strong data-start=\"611\" data-end=\"626\">an increase of 9.6%<\/strong>. Excluding <strong data-start=\"637\" data-end=\"654\">petroleum products<\/strong>, imports fell by \u20ac49.1 million or 0.9%, while excluding petroleum products and <strong data-start=\"742\" data-end=\"751\">shipping<\/strong>, there was a marginal increase of \u20ac13.2 million or 0.2%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"802\" data-end=\"1118\">In the same period, the value of <strong data-start=\"831\" data-end=\"843\">exports<\/strong> stood at <strong data-start=\"861\" data-end=\"883\">5.197.2 million<\/strong>, up from \u20ac3,831.0 million in April 2025, representing a <strong data-start=\"943\" data-end=\"959\">increase of 35.7%<\/strong>. Excluding petroleum products, exports increased by \u20ac246.6 million or 7.9%, while excluding petroleum products and ships the increase was also 7.9%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1120\" data-end=\"1441\">As a result, the <strong data-start=\"1138\" data-end=\"1174\">trade balance<\/strong> deficit narrowed to <strong data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1214\">2.156.0 million<\/strong>, compared to \u20ac2,881.1 million in April 2025, showing a <strong data-start=\"1279\" data-end=\"1295\">decrease of 25.2%<\/strong>. Excluding oil products, the decrease amounted to \u20ac295.7 million or 11.5%, while excluding oil products and ships it was \u20ac233.5 million or 9.5%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1443\" data-end=\"1660\">At the level of <strong data-start=\"1454\" data-end=\"1476\">the first quarter of 2026<\/strong>, imports amounted to <strong data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1525\">28,210.8 million euros<\/strong>, up 3.3% compared to the same period in 2025. Excluding oil products and ships, the increase was limited to 1.7%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1662\" data-end=\"1917\">Exports<\/strong> in the first quarter of the year reached <strong data-start=\"1665\" data-end=\"1677\">17.771.5 million<\/strong>, up from \u20ac15,972.6 million a year earlier, recording <strong data-start=\"1801\" data-end=\"1816\">an 11.3%<\/strong> increase. Excluding oil products, the increase was 4.2%, while excluding oil products and ships it was 4.1%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1919\" data-end=\"2221\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Meanwhile, the <strong data-start=\"1933\" data-end=\"1969\">trade balance<\/strong> deficit in the first quarter narrowed to <strong data-start=\"2004\" data-end=\"2027\">10.439.3 million<\/strong>, down from 11,343.1 million in the corresponding period in 2025, marking an <strong data-start=\"2099\" data-end=\"2112\">decrease of 8%<\/strong>.
