With new facts, the internal landscape of the New Democracy parliamentary group<\/b> is taking shape, as the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b> moves to redistribute roles and responsibilities in the Parliament<\/b>, signalling changes <\/b>that are related to both governmental positions and the overall functional rearrangement<\/b> of the party apparatus. In this context, Dimitris Markopoulos assumes the position of parliamentary representative<\/b>, in a move that comes to fill the gap created after the departure of Makarios Lazaridis<\/b> due to his placement<\/b> in the position of deputy minister<\/b>, while at the same time it is part of a broader setting of internal balances and political adjustments<\/b>. These developments are part of the ongoing effort for more effective parliamentary representation of the government majority<\/b>, with the aim of strengthening the coordination and presence of the Southwestern Party<\/b> in parliamentary work, while there are still open and individual pending issues at the level of staffing<\/b>.<\/p>\n
By decision of the Prime Minister and President of the New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/b>, Dimitris Markopoulos<\/b> has been appointed Parliamentary Representative of the Parliamentary Group of the New Democracy<\/b>.<\/p>\nThe replacement<\/h3>\n
The appointment of Dimitris Markopoulou comes in replacement of Makarios Lazaridis who was appointed as Deputy Minister, while the 3rd position remains vacant pending the settlement of the case of Noti Mitarakis. It is recalled that another Parliamentary Representative is Dimitris Kairidis.<\/p>\n
Dimitris Markopoulos was first elected MP in 2019 and was re-elected in 2023. In 2025, he was appointed a Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, with active participation in the committees on Migration, Legal Affairs and Human Rights.<\/p>\n
He served as a representative of the New Democracy Party in the Standing Committee on Production and Trade of the Parliament.<\/p>\n
