With the backdrop of rising tensions in the greater Strait of Hormuz<\/b> region, a new incident involving a US military Apache helicopter<\/b> is causing diplomatic and military turmoil<\/b>, as reports of a possible shoot-down are accompanied by statements of high political charge in the United States<\/b>. Donald Trump<\/b> made a hard line<\/b>, citing the need for an immediate<\/b> and decisive response from Washington<\/b>, while the US armed forces<\/b> and CENTCOM<\/b> are still<\/b> examining the exact cause of the crash<\/b>of the helicopter<\/b>, which was<\/b> on a patrol mission in the critical maritime zone<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Specifically, Donald Trump<\/b> said on Tuesday (09\/06) that Iran shot down the US Apache<\/b> helicopter that was patrolling the Strait of Hormuz<\/b> overnight, adding that “the United States<\/b> must, of necessity, respond to this attack<\/b>“.<\/p>\n

Specifically, the US president said through Truth Social: “I have just been informed by our armed forces that last night the Iranians shot down one of our state-of-the-art Apache helicopters while on patrol over the Strait of Hormuz.”<\/p>\n

“Two pilots were involved, both of whom are safe and unharmed. However, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack,” he added.<\/p>\n

A United States military Apache helicopter went down off the coast of Oman, with U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) saying it has opened an investigation into the cause of the crash.<\/p>\n

In a statement published in X, CENTCOM advised that two crew members involved in the crash were “safely rescued within about two hours” of the incident and are both in stable condition.<\/p>\n

It said the helicopter was lost at sea after the incident, which occurred while the crew was on patrol, and that the cause of the crash is under investigation.<\/p>\n

According to Reuters, the two crew members were located and rescued by a Navy drone.<\/p>\n

U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on Monday night that those involved in the crash were “fine.”<\/p>\n
