With strikes on Iran, the US has responded to Tehran’s downing of Tehran’s land army Apache helicopter.<\/p>\n

A series of airstrikes were recorded in the early hours of the morning, and Washington said shortly after midnight that it was beginning retaliatory operations for the downing of the helicopter.<\/b><\/p>\n

There were explosions reported on Keshm Island and in the strategic port city of Bandar Abba<\/b>. Both locations are on the border of the Sea of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

Last Tuesday night (local time; around 04:00 today GMT), US armed forces said they had “completed” a series of strikes in Iran.<\/p>\n

The US Armed Forces “conducted strikes in legitimate defense against Iran on June 9, carrying out the order of their supreme commander”, US President Donald Trump, “in retaliation for the downing of an Apache helicopter by the ground forces,” according to a statement released via X by the joint command responsible for the Middle East (CENTCOM, “Central Command”).<\/p>\n

“CENTCOM forces hit Iran’s air defense facilities, ground control stations and radar surveillance facilities<\/b> near the Strait of Hormuz,” this source clarified.<\/p>\n

This follows statements by US President Donald Trump yesterday that he expected a “very strong” retaliation to be unleashed after Iran shot down the US helicopter. “I believe the retaliation should be very strong, very strong,” the US president told ABC News television network, which clarified that the statement was made just minutes before the US armed forces announced that they had begun conducting strikes against the Islamic Republic.<\/p>\n

Iranian retaliation<\/h3>\n

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi<\/b> has indicated that there will be a retaliation by the Islamic Republic’s armed forces. “Despite their defeats on the battlefield, the US chose to test our resolve. Our powerful armed forces will not let any attack or threat go unanswered,” the Iranian diplomatic chief said via X.<\/p>\n

The Revolutionary Guards<\/b>, an elite corps of the Iranian army, said they launched an attack with unmanned aerial assault vehicles against a US base in Bahrrain<\/b>, in retaliation for US strikes against targets along Iran’s coast in the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for the downing of a US helicopter, signaling that even “stronger” actions<\/b> were imminent, according to state television.<\/p>\n

In retaliation for the US attacks on Jashq, Sirik and Keshm Island, which “damaged a telecommunications pylon in Sirik and destroyed two water tanks in the city”, the Revolutionary Guards navy “conducted a drone attack against the US 5th Fleet”<\/b>, whose headquarters are in Bahrain, the Islamic Republic’s ideological army said.<\/p>\n

Kuwait’s armed forces<\/b> announced around 05:20 (GMT) that they were operating to intercept “hostile air targets” in the emirate, as the US and Iran exchanged blows following the downing of a US helicopter.<\/p>\n

“The general staff of the Kuwaiti armed forces announces that anti-aircraft defense systems (…) are currently intercepting hostile air targets<\/b>,” according to a statement released via X, without explicitly stating who attacked.<\/p>\n

The<\/b> Jordanian armed forces<\/b> said they destroyed five Iranian missiles that were targeting Azraq, where a US military base is located.<\/p>\n

“We intercepted and shot down five missiles fired by Iran in the direction of Azraq (….) No casualties were reported” and no “property damage” was found, they noted.<\/p>\n
