A request for the accused <\/b>to attend the jury <\/b> for the Rentis riots<\/b> has been submitted to court <\/b>the lawyers <\/b>of the family of Jiorgos Liggeridis<\/b>, who was fatally injured by a naval flare<\/b>. <\/p>\n
The parents of the unfortunate policeman are appealing for the trial<\/b> to be moved from Korydallos prison to the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n
“There is a silence of lambs. Which wolves are they afraid of? And is there a wolf in this case?”<\/b>, asked Thanasis Liggeridis, father of the unfortunate policeman.<\/p>\n
His complaint and his anger that the trial for the Renti incidents is not covered by most of the media, expressed once again the father of George Liggeridis. “This trial I do not know by whom and how and who they fear<\/b>. It is not getting the publicity it should. Not what I want as a father<\/b>– what my society wants. My Greece. If they want my Greece, our Greece, to turn it into Venezuela, it’s their problem to go to Venezuela.”<\/p>\n
For months now, the meetings have been held in Korydallos prison. So far the pleas of the family of the unfortunate policeman to move the trial to a courtroom of the Court of Appeal<\/b> have not been heeded.<\/p>\n
“I see that no one is responding to this request. We continue to come to Korydallos. I wonder why they don’t do that. Why don’t they change our room? What are they afraid of? Who are they protecting?<\/b> What is behind this trial? Who are they covering up for? What is going on?” the mother of the unfortunate police officer asked.<\/p>\n
The surprise and anger of the officer’s mother was caused by a witness who testified in court that, although there was a doctor at the stadium, he had not been informed to help Liggeridis who was burning from the naval flare. “There were doctors inside and my own child was bleeding out in the street and there was no doctor to come out to give first aid. It took half an hour for the ambulance to arrive and a man was fainting<\/b> and burning there in the street. Let them all come and answer me. Did they not hear that there was a man giggling outside? How is their heart?” he said.<\/p>\n
The relatives of Giorgos Liggeridis speak of false statements that underestimate the intelligence of the court<\/b>.<\/p>\n
“They had lit a fire in a garbage bin. We put our heads above it because the smoke dissolves the tear gas”<\/b>, a fan said.<\/p>\n
“They were choking on the tear gas and they lit a fire to drown. May I put it in simple folk expression, like mice?”<\/b>, noted Thanasis Liggeridis.<\/p>\n
A request to the court to order the defendants to be present in person at the trial<\/b>, although they are represented by their lawyers, was submitted by the parents of the unfortunate policeman through their lawyers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
