Suspended until next Wednesday 22 April the ferry routes connecting the ports Mytilene and Aivali.
This was announced today to the cruise and tourism operators of Mytilene by the Turkish ferry companies that operate these routes.
As reported, the routes are being disrupted because pastoralists are continuing to mobilise at the port of Mytilene in opposition to measures to deal with foot-and-mouth disease.
Late today, it was announced that a a ferry will take place in order to transport Greek Easter tourists stranded on the opposite coast to Mytilene and also to take them to Turkey Turkish excursionists who were stranded in Mytilene, but also Greek visitors particularly from northern Greece who had come to Mytilene for the celebration of the Labrotriti of the Monastery of Agios Rafael and are returning to Greece by road via Alexandroupolis.
