Members of Syriza – current and former – are in danger of leaving their seats and not being on Tsipras’s ballot.

Let’s leave aside for a moment the grotesque situation in SYRIZA and the unprecedented in the country’s political scene to see members of one party showing up to speak in favor of another party.

Let’s forget for a moment what is going on in Koumoudoura, what is being learned and as much as we will learn along the way about current and former comrades and perhaps other issues that will raise interest especially as to the moral advantage of the Left.

Let’s see what’s going on with the … transfer of MPs and cadres to Alexis Tsipras’ party and the conditions the former leader – of their hearts – is setting to accept some on the ship that will go to … Ithaca.

Alexis Tsipras is setting as a condition that a MP must resign and leave his seat. Then to leave SYRIZA and sign up as a… member of ELAS, his new party. And of course accept that he will be a mere member since, as he has said and his new preterists have repeated, there are no seat reservations.

What does this mean though? Quite simply that Alexis Tsipras is not committed to the names that will be included in the ballot papers he will draw up for the next election. That is, a Syriza MP who leaves his seat, whenever he leaves it, to join Alexis’ party does not mean that he will be a candidate for the next election.

He faces the risk of being in… unclaimed. Not even on the sidelines. And of course being asked to applaud and defend what the leader says, who this time will have no internal party squabbles.

As has been rumoured, there is another version. He could be asked to stand for politics in a different constituency from the one he was elected in with SYRIZA. And to be confronted with cadres promoted and premiumized by Alexis Tsipras.

Will comrade Alexis do that? On the one hand the conditions have been set, on the other hand why not. He has not given different examples in the past.
