The future of health and digital transformation of the National Health System were at the center of the proceedings of the annual conference of pharmaceutical companies.
The utilization of health data, the interconnection of information systems, artificial intelligence applications, and the development of modern digital infrastructure dominated the discussion on the future of digital health, as part of the 3rd SFEE Summit organized by the Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEE).
The Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, presented the progress made in recent years in the field of digital health, emphasizing that “IDIKA now plays a pivotal role in the management and utilization of health data.”
As he noted, the adaptation of European health data legislation to the Greek context is underway, while the construction of the national supercomputer “Daedalus,” which will serve as a critical digital infrastructure for the country.
He emphasized that “Greece already has one of the most important digital databases in Europe,” noting that “approximately six million electronic prescriptions are recorded every month.” He stressed, however, that the next step is not merely data collection but improving data quality, interoperability, and secure utilization.
As he noted, the Recovery Fund projects will enable hospital systems with horizontal data to “talk” to one another. He added that “artificial intelligence is already present in the healthcare sector and can contribute to the production of more targeted and actionable information.”
