While in Greece the arrest of the 37-year-old Palestinian was unfolding, in Italy, the Genoa Prosecutor’s Office was tracing the money trail leading to Hamas.

So far, nine arrests have been made, approximately 8 million euros have been seized, and authorities are on the trail of an international network that uses humanitarian organizations and financial channels to transfer funds intended for Hamas according to the findings of Operation “Domino,” reported by the newspaper “Il Tempo.”

Investigations point to Rami Abdo —founder and president of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (Euro-Med), based in Geneva– and his brother Saleh Mohamed Ismail Abdu, a resident of Istanbul, as key figures in the connections between the Italian network and Hamas.

As for us, Euro-Med has collaborated with Greek NGOs to denounce Greece for the living conditions in reception centers and for forced returns, while also putting pressure on the European Commission and the UN regarding human rights violations! Furthermore, together with other humanitarian organizations, regarding Migration, and has collaborated with the Greek Council for Refugees.

Question: Should the Greek authorities investigate—as the Italian authorities have done—the relationship between Greek NGOs and Euro-Med?
