In Geneva the signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran, three sources told CNN on Friday.
This follows a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday, who referred to a “grand agreement” that could resolve the conflict with Iran, implying that it would be finalized in the coming days.
Trump stated that he expects the signing ceremony to take place soon, likely in Europe, where Vice President Jay D. Vance will be present. However, Iranian authorities have not yet confirmed that an agreement has been reached.
According to Bloomberg, which cites high-ranking officials, the signing of the agreement will likely take place ahead of next week’s meeting of the Group of Seven (G7) leaders.
Netanyahu’s message
For his part, a clear message that Iran will never acquire nuclear weapons as long as he is prime minister was sent by Benjamin Netanyahu through a statement issued by his office.
“As long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, Iran will not possess nuclear weapons. There is complete agreement between President Trump and me on this issue.”
