Pavlos Marinakis launched a scathing attack against the president of Freedom Movement, Zoe Konstantopoulou, denouncing the instrumentalization of parliamentary debate with the sole aim of creating viral content on social media.

The government spokesperson, Pavlos Marinakis, criticizing the stance of specific factions of the opposition.

Mr. Marinakis painted a grim picture of the situation prevailing in the plenary sessions, referring to an unprecedented slide into toxicity and the personal destruction of political opponents. As he pointed out, “what we are experiencing is unprecedented, especially during this four-year term. And I don’t know where all this will lead. Some in Parliament come here to fight. The language now being used in Parliament is beyond description“.

According to the government spokesperson, the root of the problem lies in the attempt by certain political leaders to sacrifice seriousness and the real problems of citizens on the altar of digital reach and impressions. He argued that the transformation of the parliamentary floor into a stage for a media spectacle is done with a clear objective, noting that “the easiest way to become temporarily popular is to upload a short video—it tells you, ‘I’m going to go viral’”.

In this context, Mr. Marinakis launched a direct and personal attack against the president of the Freedom Movement, citing as examples her recent behavior in parliament and the accusations she leveled against members of the cabinet. “A classic Konstantopoulou scenario: she makes a scene, shouts, and accuses. Yesterday she said that Papastergiou is linked to the tragic Violanta case,” he stated.

Concluding his remarks, Pavlos Marinakis issued a stern warning to those who adopt these practices, emphasizing that populism and digital cannibalism ultimately undermine the institutions themselves and the country’s progress. “This fleeting trend is deeply harmful both to you personally and to the country,” he concluded.
