Negotiators from Qatar have been in Tehran since this morning, as part of talks to finalize an agreement to end the war between the U.S. and Iran.
These talks are at a critical stage, while Qatar has taken an active role in the contacts between the two sides.
These developments come just hours after the public statement by Donald Trump, who claimed that the agreement is expected to be finalized later today.
“A framework agreement to end the war will be signed today,” the U.S. president said.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed a similar view, reinforcing the impression that the talks have entered their final phase.
However, Tehran has expressed reservations about the timeline and the speed at which the agreement can be finalized.
Cyberattack on four major banks
At the same time, disruption was caused in Iran’s banking system following a cyberattack that affected the services of four major banks in the country.
These are Bank Melli, Bank Tejarat, Bank Saderat, and Export Development Bank of Iran.
Iran’s Financial Institutions Coordination Council announced that the attack targeted shared communication infrastructure used by the banks.
Technical services immediately activated protective measures, resulting in the temporary disruption of certain banking operations.
Despite the disruption, Iranian authorities assure that there was no breach of customer data.
As stated in the announcement, “there was no unauthorized access to customer information, nor was any data deleted.”
