Konstantinos Kyranakis assessed that the return of Alexis Tsipras is putting pressure on PASOK, leading it into strategic dead ends.
Kyranakis on Tsipras’s appearance and the new dilemma for PASOK
The Secretary of New Democracy, speaking on the program “Behind the Lines” on Action 24, argued that the emergence of Alexis Tsipras on the political scene is working to the detriment of PASOK, noting that it further erodes its electoral influence.
As he noted, PASOK will face a critical dilemma. On the one hand, it must choose a course that accepts that the country must be governed, something which—according to him—does not reflect the decisions and messages that emerged from the party congress and the stance of Nikos Androulakis.
On the other hand, he noted that he could adopt a more radical rhetoric than he does today in order to win votes from the Left and politically compete with Alexis Tsipras.
In closing, Konstantinos Kyranakis described both options as disastrous for PASOK, expressing the view that its electoral and political decline is now irreversible.
