Sofia Voultepsi launched a scathing attack against Alexis Tsipras, sharply criticizing his recent statements regarding the 2015 coalition government and accusing him of political opportunism.

In his recent public statements, Alexis Tsipras and in his attempt to present a new, revised governance proposal, New Democracy MP New Democracy MP Sofia Voultepsi, directly questioning the former prime minister’s credibility.

Ms. Voultepsi focused particularly on Mr. Tsipras’s admission regarding the level of preparedness of himself and his staff when they took the reins of the country, characterizing it as a belated admission of having deceived the electorate. “Tsipras has now come out and said that in 2015 he knew what he wanted to do, but didn’t know how. Now he says he knows both the what and the how,” the MP pointed out pointedly.

Ms. Voultepsi expressed her strong reaction to the fact that the former prime minister is now presenting himself as a champion of political cleansing and good governance, when his past is burdened with unfulfilled promises that have cost the economy and society dearly. He asked pointedly: “Excuse me, he talks to us about integrity in the face of corruption—what is he telling us? He came and deceived an entire nation, telling them, ‘We know, we’re ready, we promise we’ll solve everything,’ and he ‘knew’ how.”

Concluding her remarks, Sofia Voultepsi emphasized that Alexis Tsipras’s new strategy and the rebranding of his political profile lack sincerity and substantive content, as his motive remains purely vote-seeking. “He can’t say ‘he knows,’ nor what he knows, nor how. All he wants is power,” he concluded.
