A missile attack is underway in the early morning hours in Kyiv in Ukraine, Agence France-Presse reporters in the city reported.
Following an alert regarding a Russian airstrike, the journalists reported hearing the sound of a rocket engine and at least two explosions, while they saw people running to reach shelters.
The attack “with ballistic missiles” was confirmed by the head of the Kyiv military command Timur Tkachenko via Telegram, without mentioning any casualties or damage at this stage.
More than four years after the war broke out in Ukraine, Russian raids have intensified and become more ferocious in recent months, with an increasing number of civilian casualties.
Although he usually avoids publicly siding with Kyiv, U.S. President Donald Trump urged on Tuesday, during the G7 summit in Evian, France, for Moscow to “reach an agreement,” signaling that Washington may reimpose on Russia certain sanctions that it had suspended.
