In a post on Truth Social, Donald Trump responded to those criticizing him for the agreement with Iran to end the war, which he signed on Wednesday evening in Versailles.

“Those fools who think I wasn’t strict enough with Iran, when the stock market has just hit a record high and oil prices are ‘plummeting,’ they’re either jealous, bad people, or idiots. Make America Great Again!!! “President DJT,” writes the U.S. president.

This was preceded by a series of reports from American media outlets that were critical of the agreement, arguing that Tehran got much more and the U.S. failed to achieve its goals.

“Trump demanded ‘unconditional surrender’ from Iran. Instead, he got a surprise. While the Iranians suffered significant losses during the war, they emerged from the conflict having proven that they can use economic chaos as a weapon,” writes the New York Times.

““Trump is settling for a deal with Iran that falls short of his promises,” writes Axios in a commentary on the U.S. president’s press conference yesterday, Wednesday, in which “he appeared to lower his bar for success and warned that he might bomb Iran again if the nuclear talks fail.” “Some of Trump’s critics argue that making concessions just to return to the status quo ante shows that the war itself was a costly mistake,” Axios adds.
