Nikos Pappas launched a new attack against the president of SYRIZA, Sokratis Famellos, raising pressing questions about his role, the party’s strategy, and the management of state funding.

New internal party turmoil has been sparked by the public statement of MP and leading SYRIZA official, Nikos Pappas, who lashed out particularly harshly against the party’s president, Socrates Famellos. This new internal conflict adds to the already tense atmosphere at the party headquarters on Koumoundourou Street, with Mr. Pappas directly challenging the framework for the leadership’s exercise of its duties and demanding immediate answers regarding electoral and organizational planning. As he characteristically stated, “Famellos must clarify what his responsibilities are. Is he responsible for the campaign platform and drawing up the candidate lists? Will our party be at the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair?”.

At the same time, the former minister emphatically raised the extremely sensitive issue of SYRIZA’s finances and the use of its resources. Seeking to emphasize that the party’s assets are subject to public scrutiny and are not the subject of backroom deals, Mr. Pappas sent a clear message of transparency to the leadership team.

SYRIZA’s assets, which are public funds—note that this is not a private discussion we are entitled to have. This is not something that happens without the Greek taxpayer’s knowledge. State funding is state funding,” the MP pointed out emphatically.

Concluding his remarks, Nikos Pappas made it clear that the management of the party’s finances is a matter of ethics and political integrity toward society, calling on Sokratis Famellos to act with absolute transparency. “We must be crystal clear about the money we receive from Greek taxpayers,” he concluded
