The self-dissolution of PASOK and SYRIZA was proposed by one of the close associates of Alexis Tsipras and the main architect of the ELAS manifesto,Giorgos Siakantaris, stating that these are parties that “are politically finished” and “the public considers them toxic.”
“The future of SYRIZA looks bleak. I think that SYRIZA and PASOK, as parties, are politically finished. They are toxic to Greek society, which is why, even before Tsipras took this position, I was in favor of their self-dissolution ,” Mr. Siakantaris told ONE.
He recalled in this context that “I had told Genimata and Androulakis that if you want to move this forward, you must dismantle the old structures; the old structures must be removed from the picture.”
In response to the observation that Tsipras is also toxic because the people in SYRIZA were his choice, Mr. Siakantaris explained, “When I say ‘toxic,’ I don’t mean negative for the history of Greece and its political and party system. PASOK, in particular, has a positive legacy, perhaps the most positive, but the political process has led to it being perceived as toxic in the public consciousness, just as DIMAR was considered—which entered the political arena and received 0.31%.“It joined the government and lost half its support; it left the government and lost the rest.”
Finally, when asked to comment on signs of arrogance within the Hellenic Police under Alexis Tsipras, Giorgos Siakantaris replied, “Arrogance? Where? I don’t share that view. It’s not arrogance to say that you arethe second-largest party when you actually are. That there may be maneuvers by people in Tsipras’s inner circle who want to exaggerate and become even more “Tsipras-like” than Tsipras himself—that may be the case, but Alexis Tsipras shows no signs of arrogance. “We all judge, and we are all judged”
