The digital platform for submitting applications for the supply of electronic intra-gastric boluses to sheep and goats, as announced by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food.
The platform is aimed at livestock farmers, approved companies distributing digital identification tags, and retail stores selling identification tags for sheep and goats.
Its operation is part of the pilot implementation of the new traceability framework, established by a joint decision of the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Margaritis Schoinis, and the director of the AADE, George Pitsilis.
It should be noted that for 2026, the measure will be implemented on a pilot basis for livestock farms with more than 900 sheep and goats, while its universal implementation is planned for 2027.
Under the new framework, the implantation of electronic intra-gastric tags is a prerequisite for eligibility for EU and national subsidies for sheep and goats over six months of age.
The electronic tags bear unique identification codes, which are linked to the ear tag codes of animals and are recorded in the new digital Traceability Database. The fitting and registration of the tags will be performed exclusively by certified veterinarians.
Through the platform, livestock farmers can submit their applications for the supply of ear tags electronically and track the progress of the process in a digital environment.
