The new secretary of PASOK, Yiannis Vardakastanis, spoke harshly about his feud with Charis Doukas and Anna Diamantopoulou.
The A new dispute between Haris Doukas and Anna Diamantopoulou over the future of PASOK and its alliances has sparked a new round of internal strife within the party. With Nikos Androulakis essentially remaining on the sidelines, although many say that what Yiannis Vardakastanis said was a message from the PASOK president himself .
Yiannis Vardakastanis, in a radio interview, commented on the clash between the two top officials of PASOK, noting that both had made ill-advised statements. Essentially, the party secretary rebuked them, calling for calm within the party.
“I had said when I was asked about Mr. Doukas’s first statement that it was an ill-advised statement, and I repeat that Ms. Diamantopoulou because this statement reignites the debate, and in that sense it is an ill-advised statement even if its content contains some serious points that Mr. Doukas might have had, but there are bodies within PASOK. “They had the opportunity to express their positions within the Political Council,” stated the secretary of PASOK.
Expulsion of Party Officials
Most importantly, however, he did not rule out the possible expulsion of party officials in connection with the dispute between Doukas – Diamantopoulou. When asked about this, he claimed that such decisions are made by the president, essentially leaving the possibility open for the future.
“I cannot speak about matters that are not within my purview; my responsibility is to call on everyone to remain fully focused on our goals. Anything that strays from that focus is off-track,” he emphasized, among other things.
Apparently, Yannis Vardakastanis publicly conveyed Nikos Androulakis’s message to the two top officials. However, the problem remains.
The poll data for PASOK is particularly negative, while no one knows what the party’s strategy is for the future. At the same time, at the party headquarters on Charilaou Trikoupi Street, members have split into two camps over the role of PASOK before and after the elections.
