J.D. Vance will represent Donald Trump in negotiations with Iran, which will begin tomorrow, Sunday (June 21, 2026) in Burgstock, Switzerland , with an Iranian delegation, including the leadership of Pakistan and Qatar.

Israel’s attacks on Lebanon remain a point of contention. Earlier today, Donald Trump raised the issue of tolls in the Strait of Hormuz, in response to Iran’s announcement that it would close the Strait. “No tolls will be imposed after the 60-day period expires, unless they are imposed by and on behalf of the United States of America, in the event that the agreement is not finalized,” Donald Trump warned.

Given these circumstances, the U.S. Vice President,Jay D. Vance, departed tonight (June 20, 2026) from Washington to Switzerland to participate in the talks set to begin tomorrow with Iran. A few days ago, he had stated that he would only be able to stay in Switzerland for “a day or two” and expressed hope that progress would be made on the nuclear issue and regarding the ceasefire in Lebanon. Jay D. Vance will be accompanied by U.S. negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Whitecoff.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, and the Chief of the Army,General Syed Asim Munir, will participate in the talks, at the technical level, which will take place in Burgenstock, Switzerland, tomorrow, Sunday, the Prime Minister’s office announced tonight. According to Islamabad, representatives from Qatar will also be present.

An Iranian delegation that had departed earlier has already arrived in Switzerland, according to Iranian media reports. The Iranian delegation is headed by the Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bayer Galibaf. Also participating are Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and high-ranking officials from the security services, the central bank, and the oil sector, according to Iranian media.

Earlier today, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmail Baghai said that “Tehran will exert pressure to ensure that commitments are honored,” arguing that “in the past, the other side has not honored its agreements.”
