Fiscal surpluses are being channeled into targeted assistance for families, retirees, renters, professionals, and farmers, aimed at providing immediate support for daily life.
Based on the principle that economic policy must, in addition to indicators and statistics, also improve citizens’ daily lives, the new package of seven measures promoted by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, under Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
These are measures that affect millions of citizens and aim to transform the country’s development trajectory into tangible economic benefits for <a href="https://tomanifesto.gr/households, retirees, professionals, and farmers.
The economic team’s philosophy is that the additional revenue generated by growth, increased employment, attracting investment, and combating tax evasion must be returned to society in a measurable and fair manner.
A “range” of measures
The focus is on supporting families, with financial assistance of 150 euros per child for hundreds of thousands of households. At a time when the cost of living continues to strain family budgets, this measure provides substantial relief to parents who are called upon to meet the increased demands of daily life. At the same time, the government aims to send a message of support to young couples planning their future.
Special emphasis is also placed on retirees. The annual financial assistance of 300 euros is being expanded and now covers a larger number of beneficiaries. This measure comes on top of the increases already granted in recent years and represents yet another step toward recognizing the contribution of those who supported the country during difficult times.
A significant part of the package also addresses the housing issue, which has become one of the greatest challenges for households. The rent reimbursement for more eligible recipients provides substantial relief to thousands of families, workers, and young people who see a large portion of their income going toward housing. This measure is particularly significant as the housing market remains under pressure in many regions of the country.
Repayment Plans and Installments
At the same time, the economic team is also focusing on addressing private debt. The option to restructure debts into up to 72 installments creates a new framework for thousands of citizens and businesses seeking to settle their obligations.
The government has chosen to offer a second chance to those affected by the successive crises of recent years, enabling their smooth reintegration into economic activity.
Measures to improve the out-of-court settlement mechanism are also moving in the same direction. Speeding up procedures and expanding settlement options represent an important step for households and businesses seeking sustainable solutions.
The government’s choice is clear: less bureaucracy, more opportunities for settlement, and a faster resolution of problems that have plagued citizens for years.
Standing with farmers
At the same time, support is being extended to the primary sector. Measures to reduce production costs, the continuation of subsidies, and initiatives regarding agricultural diesel are part of a broader strategy to maintain the competitiveness of Greek production.
In a period of international turmoil and increased energy pressures, support for the regions takes on particular importance for the economy, while the government is striving to improve the climate following the OPEKEPE incident.
The policy being pursued aims to combine fiscal responsibility with social support, without jeopardizing the growth momentum the country has gained in recent years.
Kyriakos Pierrakakis chooses to link the economy’s positive impact to citizens’ daily lives by implementing measures that have an immediate social and economic impact.
