At the awards ceremony for 871 ABEK as a unit of the Armed Forces “Friend of the Environment” for 2025, the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, who congratulated the unit’s command and personnel on their distinction.
Mr. Dendias, in a post on the social network X, emphasized that the Armed Forces are not defined solely by their operational role, but also by their responsibility they bear toward the natural environment.

“I had the opportunity to warmly congratulate the management and staff of 871 ABEK and to emphasize that their example deserves to become a model,” the minister noted.
At the same time, he noted that the award presented to the unit is recognition of this significant environmental responsibility, highlighting the contribution of the Armed Forces to protecting the environment.
