Harsh criticism of party of Alexis Tsipras and the proposals he is submitting was voiced by the government spokesperson, Pavlos Marinakis.

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis, stated that the proposals put forward by officials associated with the former prime minister elicit, as he put it, “laughs,” as they are not accompanied by a specific implementation plan or even a basic cost estimate.

He argued that “the numbers don’t add up, nor do they explain exactly how they’ll do it,” accusing the leaders of the new political movement of presenting positions that lack coherence and fiscal justification.

The government spokesperson accused Mr. Tsipras of hypocrisy, saying that, when he was in charge of the government for more than four years, “he raised or imposed 30 taxes on middle- and low-income earners.”

The government spokesperson contrasted SYRIZA’s tax policy with the current government’s strategy, emphasizing that 83 direct and indirect taxes have been reduced or abolished. As he said, the government wants to continue tax relief measures, with an emphasis on the middle class and low-income earners.
