In an era when wars are waged not only with weapons and armies, but even at the push of a button, Greece is decisively strengthening its capabilities in cyberspace.

The new facilities of the Directorate of Information Technology and Cyberspace of the General Staff of National Defense were inaugurated in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias and the Laskaridis couple, as the project was funded entirely by the “Athanasios K. Laskaridis Public Benefit Foundation,” constituting a significant contribution to the Armed Forces and the nation.

This is a donation of particular national significance, which highlights the deep patriotism and strong sense of responsibility that distinguish Mr. Laskaridis and his Foundation toward the country and national defense. Such initiatives not only strengthen the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces, but also serve as a shining example of social service and national contribution, one that deserves to be emulated.

The timing of the creation of this state-of-the-art infrastructure is by no means coincidental. From the very beginning, the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis made the country’s defense modernization a priority, proceeding with the acquisition of the Rafale, integrating the F-35s, and modernizing the Armed Forces on land, at sea, and in the air.

The new investment in cyber defense complements this strategy, as modern threats cannot be addressed solely with conventional weapons. Greece now possesses one of the strongest deterrent capabilities in the Eastern Mediterranean, a fact that was also reflected in the recent deployment of Rafale jets to Cyprus, a historic moment that our Cypriot brothers will never forget.
