Kairidis’s Criticism of the Refugee Camps and the Situation in Athens
Fierce criticism of Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas was leveled by New Democracy MP Dimitris Kairidis, speaking on SKAI’s program “Today” on SKAI, regarding the issue of refugees and the operations of the Municipality of Athens.
Mr. Kairidis argued that Mr. Doukas “pampers and protects the marginalized” through his stance on the issue of refugee camps, while emphasizing that the primary mission of a mayor is “to clean up the city” and not “to engage in political maneuvering.”
At the same time, he referred to the proposal for a “popular front”, arguing that citizens can see the results of the cooperation between SYRIZA and PASOK in the Municipality of Athens in practice.
“Greek citizens don’t have to look far; they can see the results of the popular front—the cooperation between SYRIZA and PASOK—in the Municipality of Athens. Which, in my opinion, are absolutely disastrous. Look, Greek people, at what they’re proposing to you—see what results it brings,” Dimitris Kairidis stated emphatically.
