Nearly 4 million euros (3,987,194.07 euros) were approved for the payment of the Transportation Equivalent Fuel for the year 2024, to citizens and businesses on the islands.
The payment is carried out through the General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy and concerns the measure of the Transport Equivalent for the transportation of liquid fuels to the islands during 2024.
Specifically:
- For citizens, a total of 2,473,375 euros was approved for 26,655 beneficiaries.
- For businesses, a total of 1,513,818 euros was approved for 3,288 beneficiaries.
In a statement, the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Vasilis Kikilias, emphasized:
“Through the Fuel Transport Equivalent, we are returning nearly 4 million euros to citizens and businesses on our islands. This is substantial support for island communities, where fuel costs affect prices and place a burden on households and businesses. Our goal is for island residents to feel that the government stands by them with concrete measures that make their daily lives easier and support the local economy.”
