As part of the tours of the New Democracy in the Peloponnese, a delegation led by the Minister of Immigration and Asylum and Member of Parliament for Athens A Thanos Plevris, conducted visit to Argolis.

The delegation included the Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Member of Parliament for Argolis, Giannis Andrianos, the President of the Argolis Regional Committee of the Democratic Alliance, Panagiotis Zacharias, and local party officials.

Mr. Plevris held consecutive meetings with the Mayor of Argos-Mykines, Yiannis Maltezos, the Mayor of Nafplio, Dimitris Orfanos, and the Deputy Regional Governor of Argolis, Vasilis Sideris.

They discussed issues related to local development, infrastructure, citizens’ daily lives, as well as the government’s priorities for further strengthening the region’s development momentum.

In Argos, Mr. Plevris visited shops in the city center and spoke with business owners, employees, and citizens, listening firsthand to their views and needs.

Subsequently, he held a meeting with representatives of packing houses and farmers in Iria, Nafplio, where they discussed the challenges facing the primary sector, the needs of agricultural production, and the potential for further support for local products and the region’s export activities.

The visit concluded with an expanded meeting of the Argolis Regional Development Committee in Nea Kio, attended by officials from the prefecture’s municipal and community organizations. During the meeting, issues of concern to the local community, the government’s work, and priorities for the coming period were discussed.

Concluding his visit, Mr. Plevris stated: “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for the warm welcome and for the opportunity to be here today in Argolis, a place of exceptional historical and cultural significance. The New Democracy government, acting on the instructions of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, stands firmly by local communities. Through these visits, we have the opportunity to speak directly with citizens, local government officials, business organizations, and market participants, listen to their needs, and assess the progress of the initiatives being implemented in every region of the country. In the meetings we had today with the mayors, representatives of the agricultural sector, professionals, and party officials, it was confirmed that Argolis has significant potential for development. Supporting primary production, strengthening infrastructure, and improving citizens’ daily lives remain our steadfast priorities. “We are moving forward with a plan, consistency, and stability, so that development reaches every corner of Greece and translates into tangible results for citizens.”
