Christos Giannoulis criticized Alexis Tsipras, called for a united progressive front, ruled out SYRIZA’s resignation, and warned of splits.

The spokesperson for SYRIZA, Christos Giannoulis, directly criticized Alexis Tsipras, arguing that his stance does not serve the goal of forming a victorious progressive front that could lead to political change. At the same time, he assured that SYRIZA will remain active in political developments.

Yannoulis Criticizes Tsipras’s Decision: No one can do it alone

Speaking on Parapolitika 90.1, Christos Giannoulis made it clear that there was never a proposal for cooperation with EL.A.S., but rather a broader call for all progressive forces to join together against government policies. As he noted, the question at hand is whether anyone can bring about a change without the necessary common ground and the required unity.

He expressed his reservations about the choice of Alexis Tsipras, emphasizing that, although it is his inalienable right, he does not believe that this particular stance contributes to the fundamental political goal of creating a victorious front. He further emphasized that politics requires the consistent rallying of forces along the path of the Left, in order to formulate a credible alternative proposal for governance.

The press spokesperson for SYRIZA also noted that the party president did not propose a coalition for reasons of party survival or personal ambitions, but rather proposed the formation of a broader front that would increase the chances of an electoral victory and limit the risk of another defeat.

SYRIZA in the Elections – Anxiety Over a New Split

Responding to a question about the electoral presence of SYRIZA, Christos Giannoulis assured that the party will continue its political and parliamentary activities as usual, emphasizing that “it will not pull the plug” on its political presence.

At the same time, he acknowledged that Alexis Tsipras continues to possess strong political momentum, but noted that he could have leveraged that influence by pursuing the changes he proposes through SYRIZA, rather than taking a different path.

Finally, when asked about the possibility of further defections and yet another split within the party, he stated that he would make every effort to prevent such a scenario, noting, however, that he cannot predict what the final outcome will be.
