The Foreign Minister of Iran denounces the naval blockade and the resalination of a commercial vessel as a violation of ceasefire and warns of retaliation.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took a particularly high profile stance, raising the tension on the geopolitical chessboard of Middle East, as in a public intervention he denounced actions by the US that he contends directly affect the ceasefire and freedom of navigation. The Iranian official called the moves tantamount to an aggressive escalation, linking the blockade limania and the incident with the resaluation of a merchant ship to a direct threat against Tehran’s national sovereignty, while sending a message of determination, stressing that Iran has the means and the will to protect its strategic interests against any form of pressure or military aggression.
In particular, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said today that the blockade of Iranian ports by the US armed forces amounts to an “act of war” and therefore is a violation of the agreed ceasefire.
The statement
“Blockading Iranian ports is an act of war and therefore a violation of the ceasefire,” Abbas Araghchi said in a post on the social media platform X, also denouncing the US forces’ retaliation against an Iranian merchant ship.
“Iran knows how to neutralize restrictions, how to defend its interests and how to resist bullying,” the Iranian diplomatic chief’s message concludes.
