A Greek-owned ship bearing a Liberian flag, a href=”https://tomanifesto.gr/ploio”>was struck 15 nautical miles northwest of the coast of Oman.
According to safety company Diaplous, the master of the “EPAMINONDAS” (IMO 9153862), Liberian-flagged and managed by Maersk, reported that a Revolutionary Guards approached the vessel without prior communication by radio and then opened fire.
The ship had sailed from the port of Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates bound for Murda in India,at a time when the security of navigation in the region remains extremely fragile amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
The attack caused severe damage to the bridgeof the ship, while all crew members are safe, according to the same report.
The British Maritime Safety Agency UKMTO also said earlier that there was no fire on board the ship and all crew members are unharmed.
