Informed of the loss of Stefanos Linaiou, the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni made the following statement:
“It was with great sadness that I learned of the loss of Stefanos Linaiou, which deprives the Greek theatre of one of its most distinguished and loyal workers.
an actor of great calibre, who has highlighted roles from across the facet of the classical and contemporary repertoire, a performer with a rich and perfectly distinctive expressive range, a thespian, director, producer of radio broadcasts, Stefanos Linaeus not only devoted himself wholeheartedly to Art, but approached it, even in maturity, with awe and respect. In his long life and career, generations and generations of viewers have been fortunate enough to admire him on the stage, which he loved with a passion, and in his selective – and always special – appearances on the big screen. A man of unshakable values, Stefanos Linaeus was also a sensitive citizen, with a constant concern for the problems and future of the country, which was transformed into a totally selfless involvement in syndicalism and public life. Stefanos Linaeus only pretended on stage and screen, in his artistic and public presence he was a crystal clear human being and a passionate artist.
To his wife Elli Fotiou, with whom he shared so many years, their daughter Marghita Mytilineou, his colleagues and countless friends, I extend my sincere condolences.”
