UkraineUkraine is seeking trilateral talks with the US and Russia, while diplomatic processes for ending the war and resuming negotiations are intensifying.

In a period of intense geopolitical volatility and prolonged conflict in Eastern Europe, Kiev is dynamically re-entering the diplomatic spotlight with the aim of restarting peace processes. Volodymyr Zelensky appears determined to re-open the channel of communication with the US and Russia, seeking to formulate a framework for trilateral talks that could lead to a de-escalation and possible end to the war. At the same time, international balances remain fragile, with diplomatic moves affected by parallel crises and uncertainty around when and whether meaningful negotiations between the involved sides will resume.

Ukrainian and US negotiators held talks on Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today, as Kiev seeks to resume trilateral peace talks with Russia despite the fact that US negotiators are busy with the war in Iran.

Ready at any moment

“We very much hope for the resumption of trilateral meetings and return to a path leading to the end of the war,” Zelensky told reporters.

“We are ready at any moment and in any format to resume negotiations,” the Ukrainian president noted.

For its part, the Kremlin expressed hope that White House special envoy Steve Whitcoff and US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will continue their visits to Russia as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported.

Unclear when their next visit to Russia will take place

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it is not known at this stage when their next visit to Russia could take place, RIA reported.

It should be noted that talks between Moscow and Kiev, mediated by Washington, on ending the four-year Russian invasion of Ukraine were halted after the start of US-Israeli attacks on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory campaign in the wider Middle East region.
