At the inauguration of the 17th Kindergarten of Petroupolis the Prefecture of Attica – 917,600 euros of funding from the Periphery.
The inauguration of the 17th Kindergarten of Petroupolis, a project financed by funds from the IPP “Attica 2021 – 2027” amounting to 917.600 euros, were held by the Prefect of Attica Nikos Hardalias, together with the Mayor of Petroupolis Vangelis Simos.
The Regional Governortour the rooms and premises of the preschool, spoke with the headmistress and the teachers, and was also in one of the rooms where the children were following a creative activity program.

The new kindergarten has an area of 260 sq.m and a capacity of 50 infants, is equipped with modern and certified equipment, while all its indoor and outdoor areas are fully accessible to children with disabilities and mobility problems.
“I am especially happy to be in a neighborhood that reminds me of the one I grew up in. A popular neighborhood, where older and more experienced mayors taught us to be assertive, but also to be cohesive,” Mr. Hardalias said, adding: “The new kindergarten is only a small part of our structured strategy for the complete upgrade of school units throughout Attica, through a programme in which we are investing over 100 million euros from our European resources.”

Hardalias made special reference to the good cooperation with the Mayor of Petroupolis for the implementation of projects needed by the local community, which were unblocked after years of delays by the cogs of bureaucracy “with understanding, consensus and cooperation”, as he pointed out.
“In local government, there is much that unites us and little that divides us. The different ideological starting points cannot stand in the way of the real needs of citizens,” Mr. Hardalias said: “With the eager mayor and friend Vangelis Simos, we have put projects with a total budget of more than €17 million on track for implementation. I am optimistic, because there is a common understanding and close cooperation. Step by step, day by day, we are fighting for the best possible result. Behind every municipal and regional authority are people who have found nothing ready and are fighting every day to ensure better conditions for their communities. The projects being implemented today are just the beginning – the best is yet to come.”
For his part, Mayor of Petrograd Vangelis Simos said: “It is with great pleasure that we inaugurate today the 17th Kindergarten, which was completed after many years of efforts, with funding from the Region of Attica. It is a great honour for us to have the Regional Governor Nikos Hardalias with us today. We thank him warmly for the overall cooperation we have on issues of the city – not only in the area of school housing. And I emphasize this ,because there is a second piece of good news: very soon we will proceed with the tendering of the 1st Kindergarten of Petrograd, a project that the city has been waiting for since the 1990s. Once again, we thank the Regional Governor for this important support”.
