“The success of DEI is the success of Greece,” said Stavros Papastavrou, speaking to CNN Greece, at the Delphi Economic Forum.
Commenting on the big €4 billion investment plan, with a share capital increase, announced yesterday by DEP, the Environment and Energy Minister noted that the government fully supports PPC’s plan.
“The PPC is becoming a champion, a leader in the energy sector in the Southeast Europe and Central Europe. The State will pay its share of the increase.”
“We believe that this PPC plan, the success of PPC, is the success of Greece. PPC’s planning is essentially perfectly aligned with our national energy strategy.”
Referring to the issue of energy security, against the backdrop of developments in the Middle East and the sharp rise in prices, he said that “we are energy secure, but we are not complacent.”
“We are in full coordination with the oil companies. The fact that we have refineries here and we are exporters of petroleum products is a very important assurance. But nobody thinks that we are totally secured and that we don’t need to have a constant vigilance so that we take appropriate measures.”
