Pavlos Marinakis defended the independence of the Justice, while calling the criticism of Members of Parliament of the New Democracy useful.
Frontal clash with PASOK chose the government spokesman, Pavlos Marinakis, strongly criticizing the claims of Charilaou Trikoupis about government interference in Justice.
In a televised appearance on ONE Channel, the spokesman responded to the opposition’s accusations, while also commenting on the recent objections raised by five New Democracy MPs on the operation of the Executive State.
Mr. Marinakis characterised the move by the “blue” MPs as an interesting contribution to public debate, stressing that the party encourages free expression.
He stressed that the government positively values criticism, as it can be improved through it, noting however that the government’s model of coordination should not be targeted.
Commenting on internal processes, he said that “we should not shoot ourselves in the foot“, while on the instability scenarios, he said mockingly, “I am tired of counting the predictions of the fall of the government”.
On the PASOK controversy and Mr. Nikitiadis, the spokesman pointed out:
- He described the reports on the control of judicial officials as dangerous and offensive.
- He accused Nikos Androulakis of a change of political direction that hurts the institutions.
- He stressed that in Greece the distinction of powers is non-negotiable.
In conclusion, Pavlos Marinakis wanted to send a clear message in every direction regarding the functioning of the courts, stressing meaningfully that “their decisions are not taken by televoting“.
