To introduce the Slovenian public to Thessaloniki and Kastoria as ideal city break destinations, was the aim of a journalistic trip of EOT Serbia from 21 to 25/04.
According to a relevant announcement, the press trip, which took place in cooperation with the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO), the Municipality of Kastoria and the Association of Hoteliers of Kastoria, involved representatives of the National Radio and Television of Slovenia (RTV SLO) and the specialist in gastronomy, wine and tourismmagazine “Pet Zvezdic” (Five Stars), including Marjana Grcman and Peter Irman, president and vice-president, respectively, of the Slovenian Association of Tourism Journalists.

During their visit to Thessaloniki, the members of the Slovenian delegation had the opportunity to get acquainted with the city’smost important cultural resources, such as the city’s traditional market and the church of St. Demetrios. They also visited local markets, learned about the ways of preparing local dishes (bougatsa, pumpkin balls, etc.) and tasted local wines, based on the fact that Thessaloniki is included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for Gastronomy.
In Kastoria, they came in contact with the city’s refined architectural style, visited the Byzantine Museum and the lakeside Neolithic settlement at Dispilio and carried out outdoor activities at Lake Orestiada.
After their departure from Greece, the Slovenian journalists were enthusiastic about the activities that visitors can carry out in Thessaloniki and its gastronomic scene, while Kastoria also received particularly positive comments,as they described its landscape as one of unique beauty, which differs from the more well-known Greek destinations.
