The wide acceptance of the Ciocarbon Ciocarbon by the European Parliament marks a new era of simplification for the cosmetics and fertilizer industry.

With an impressive majority of 84%, the plenary of the European Parliament has endorsed the proposal of MEP New Democracy, Dimitris Tsiodras, which aims to modernise the legislative framework on chemicals. The vote, which concluded with 540 votes in favour.

The report, which simplifies three pieces of legislation, the Cosmetics Regulation, the Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation, and the Fertilisers Regulation, received broad support from six political groups, the European People’s Party, the Socialists & Democrats, Renew, ECR, Patriots for Europe and the Greens majority, according to the statement.

“Today, the European Parliament has shown that it can simplify legislation without compromising the safety and health of consumers. The text adopted is based on a scientific approach, providing legal clarity and realistic timelines, fully protecting consumers, while boosting innovation, jobs and Europe’s competitiveness,” said Tsiodras after the vote.

This is the sixth legislative package being promoted in the EU to reduce red tape and simplify European legislation, cutting compliance costs and administrative procedures for businesses.
