In a post on the case of the specialist pediatrician, who complained that she was on call for 5 days in a row, Adonis Georgiades has gone ahead and wanted to clear the air.

The Health Minister, in his first message, said he was informed about the video but has no evidence about the young medical resident to intervene and ascertain what has happened. While he even asked if she wants to contact him or anyone who knows anything more to let him know so that he can help her.

Mr. Georgiades made it clear that he will not allow communication games at the expense of the NHS while disclosing that the Governor of the hospital where the doctor was in Samos was surprised by her post.

Also, he made it known that the young resident, during her stay there, saw a total of 19 children and made 4 admissions. All scheduled and no emergencies. No any overtime was found and no overworking of her, also she did not report any complaints to the hospital management.”

At the end of the post Georgiades:

“As for the video with the resident doctor that caused such a big commotion on social media. It is about a rural doctor who, based on a law, decided to do her field service in Attica. But this law, as a compensation for the favour of not moving to the province, obliges you to move to a hospital in the province by order of the Ministry of Health if an emergency arises for a limited period of time.

Such a need arose and by decision of the 2nd YPE he was moved for 5 days to the island of Samos, where he was accommodated free of charge in a new apartment, which we have constructed for such cases. During her stay there she saw a total of 19 children and made 4 admissions. All scheduled and no emergencies. She was found to have no overtime and no overwork, she also did not report any complaints to the hospital management.

The Governor was surprised by this post. For these extraordinary services she was duly paid as per her schedule. After my announcement this morning she finally took down her post. I want to say once again that I will not allow communication games with the NHS,” Health Minister Adonis Georgiades wrote in his response.
