A man was killed today (3/5) after a Russian strike with drone in the town of Herson, in southern Ukraine, according to local authorities.

At the same time, Moscow spoke of a widespread Ukrainian operation involving hundreds of drones.

The drone struck a “company vehicle” at 05:40 (local and Greek time), the head of Kherson’s military command, Yaroslav Shanko, reported on Telegram.

“One man, whose identity is not yet known, was fatally wounded,” he added, specifying that four other people were being treated for injuries.

According to an analysis by AFP based on Ukrainian Air Force data, the Russian military launched a record number of long-range drones in April, reaching 6.583.

In response to the constant bombing, now recorded frequently and during the day, Kiev is targeting positions within Russia. The strikes are on military installations and energy infrastructure, with the aim of limiting war funding.

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry said it shot down 334 Ukrainian drones overnight, a number considered particularly high.

The air defense was activated in 15 regions of Russia. Interceptions were made both near the front and in areas of high population density, such as Moscow and St. Petersburg, and in the annexed Crimea.

Also, in the Leningrad region, 59 drones were shot down. It should also be noted that St. Petersburg is home to ports with a critical role for trade via Valica.

So far there are no reports of casualties from the attacks on Russian territory.

Meanwhile, while diplomatic efforts remain stalled, Russia has proposed a ceasefire for May 9, a date that commemorates the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany. Kiev replied that it was considering the proposal.
